Emma has over 20 years of experience practicing and teaching yoga in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
At the age of 28 she took her very first yoga class back in the mid 1990's in a local Newtown Hall in Sydney with wonderful teachers Simon Borg Olivier and Bianca Machliss.
In 1999 Emma graduated with a Bachelor Of Design with first class honours. She worked as an interior designer in an architects office during her final year of university. This was an extremely demanding time, thankfully a yoga studio opened up right above the office she was working in Surry Hills. It was here, she discovered Iyengar yoga with esteemed teacher James Hasemer. She knew right away that teaching Iyengar yoga was what she wanted to do. She attended classes regularly for 3 years.
Emma moved to Melbourne after getting a design job and immediately signed up for a 3 year teacher training course in 2002 in St Kilda with senior Iyengar teacher Simon Marrocco. This changed her life, whilst working as a full time Interior designer, she graduated as a fully certified Iyengar teacher. Emma taught many classes at St Kilda Yoga school and Circus Oz in South Melbourne.
She attended the Geeta Iyengar workshop in Sydney and many other prominent teachers workshops from both Iyengar and Ashtanga and Kundalini lineages.
She has been living in Brisbane for 15 years and has been teaching yoga in Newmarket and Enoggera.
Emma has since left the Iyengar association, but still teaches alignment principles, sequencing, timings and use of props. She continues to teach from the heart, her own unique style. She understands the importance of listening to your own body, the best teacher you have.
Emma believes that yoga can transform the way you think, feel and live with more consciousness and vitality. She blends her Iyengar training with vinyasa (a flowing style of yoga) pranayama (breathing exercises), bandhas (energy locks), drishti (eye gaze points) mudras (hand movements) and mantras to heal the soul. Emma teaches real yoga for real people. Her classes are smaller so that you get a personalized practice to suit your body, mind and spirit.
She is a current member of Yoga Australia. Emma continues to learn and grow as a yoga teacher and student of life.
At Emma's Yoga Classes you can attend as many times as you like, when you like. No recurring memberships or lock in contracts. Buy a class pass and use it to suit your needs.
Online classes are for all levels, from beginners, intermediate and advanced level students. Yoga postures will be modified to suit your practice. If you are new to yoga, sign up to our beginner series classes. If you prefer to learn in your own pace, private yoga classes are available . Emma's Yoga Classes are now using Zoom (a video conference platform) to bring yoga straight to your lounge room.
Classes are dynamic with focus on breath, alignment principles and sequencing. All classes are balanced out with pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and 10 minutes of blissful savasana.
Bookings can be made online. It's easy, just go to the 'Book Online' button above and click on the link which takes you to Zoom. You can use your laptop, tablet or smartphone. You will be prompted to use your chosen device audio. It is recommended you test your speaker and mic before you start your class.
Please have a blanket or two nearby, some blocks and a strap if you need it. Remember you can improvise with things you already have at home. Classes are 60, 75 and 90 minutes in duration. Private yoga classes run for one hour. Bookings essential.

Frequently asked questions
What to wear?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing or general yoga attire. Dress warmer in winter months with layers so you can keep warm
What if I'm sick or have an injury?
Be sure to fill out the enrolment form or contact via email and let the teacher know before class if you have any health concerns or injuries, so that you stay a happy yogi.
Should I eat before class?
It is suggested that food is not to be taken within 2-3 hours before class. Something light one hour before class is acceptable. A banana or a handful of almonds are great way to give you some energy quickly.
How do I use Zoom?
Download the app straight onto your laptop, tablet or smartphone before you start class. Its free! When you book in you will be given a link that takes you straight into the online class. You will be asked to join audio with your chosen device.
It is recommended you test your speaker and mic before starting class.
Menstruation or Pregnancy?
Please contact me if you are menstruating or pregnant. There are some poses that need to be modified to keep you in perfect yogi health.
Can I try out a class?
Why yes you can! Just pay $25.00 for a casual visit and if you like it, then simply purchase a 20,10 or 5 class pass All passes are non refundable. Must present student/concession card to be eligible for concession rate. All passes are to be used within the timeframe, no extensions.
